Kathy Mulkerin was elected to the Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors in November 2021. She grew up in Walla Walla and attended local public schools. Mulkerin earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Portland, a Montessori Teaching certificate from the Montessori Institute Northwest, a Masters of Education in Primary Montessori from Loyola University Maryland, and a Master of Professional Studies in Paralegal Studies from The George Washington University. She has a long history of volunteer work, starting as a teen at the YWCA of Walla Walla, and was recognized as one of Walla Walla's Most Inspiring Women in 2018. She is a co-founder of COCOA (Color Our Community On Awareness), an organization that amplifies the voices of the local BIPOC community.
