Ken Johnson is the 67th and current mayor of Muskegon, sworn into office on January 3, 2022. A fifth-generation Muskegon resident, he graduated from Muskegon Public Schools and earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and Political Science from The George Washington University. Before becoming mayor, Johnson served two four-year terms as an at-large City Commissioner, from 2014 to 2021. He has also worked as a senior analyst for a global media analysis firm and currently works as a financial planner. He is the city's first openly gay mayor.
