Kevin G. Thurman is a native of Eastern Harnett County. He is the son of a public educator and a Vietnam veteran. He graduated from Triton High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University and a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University. His professional experience includes work at Research Triangle Institute and Blue Cross NC, focusing on governmental policies and healthcare system solutions. Thurman is also active in his church, Mt. Pisgah Harnett OFWB Church, Inc., where he serves as the Vice President of the Mighty Men's Prayer Ministry. He previously ran for the same seat in 2022 and 2024, losing to the incumbent, Howard Penny Jr.
