Khem Irby

Khem Irby was born in Brooklyn, New York, and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. She earned a bachelor's degree from Barclay College in 2018. Her career experience includes working as an activist, secretary, and an after-school teacher. Prior to her election in 2018, she was an ACES teacher at Pearce Elementary for four years. Irby has a long history of volunteering in public schools and has been affiliated with the High Point NAACP, the NC Black Leadership & Organizing Collective, and Parents Across America. She is a mother of six, and four of her children graduated from Guilford County Schools.
