Kimberly Dotson was appointed as a Judge to the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Governor Gavin Newsom in March 2025. Prior to her appointment, she served as a court commissioner for the same court starting in 2018. Her legal career began in the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office, where she worked as a paralegal and legal office support from 1992, eventually becoming a Deputy Public Defender from 2002 to 2018. Dotson earned her law degree from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree in business economics from the University of California, Riverside.
