Kirk Smith is a retired U.S. Army Paratrooper and has served multiple terms on the Lee County Board of Commissioners. He was first appointed to a seat in 2007 and was later elected to an at-large seat from 2012 to 2016, serving as Vice-Chair for two of those years. He was subsequently elected to represent District 2 in 2018. His community involvement includes membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and the 82nd Airborne Division Association.
