Born and raised in Prescott, she earned degrees from Arizona State University and Columbia University. Her career includes journalism, serving in Governor Janet Napolitano's administration, and chairing the Arizona Corporation Commission where she authored the state's first renewable energy standard. As Attorney General, Mayes is known as a strong consumer advocate, fighting for families by protecting consumers, combating the fentanyl crisis, holding corporations accountable, and ensuring groundwater sustainability.
