Kris Mayes is Arizona's incumbent Attorney General, sworn in on January 2, 2023. A Democrat, she made history as the state's first openly LGBTQ+ person and first mom to hold the office. Born and raised in Prescott, she earned degrees from Arizona State University and Columbia University. Her career includes journalism, serving in Governor Janet Napolitano's administration, and chairing the Arizona Corporation Commission where she authored the state's first renewable energy standard. As Attorney General, Mayes is known as a strong consumer advocate, fighting for families by protecting consumers, combating the fentanyl crisis, holding corporations accountable, and ensuring groundwater sustainability. She is seeking re-election in 2026 to continue protecting Arizonans.
