Kristi Pettit Venhuizen, born in 1973 and a Grand Forks native, earned her bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota and her law degree from Washburn University. Admitted to the North Dakota Bar in 1998, she has 25 years of legal experience. Governor Doug Burgum appointed her District Court Judge for the Northeast Central Judicial District judgeship #6 in 2023. Her career includes private practice, serving as the Grand Forks city prosecutor, and as a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor for North Dakota. She also taught criminal law at UND and was president of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, committing to serve her profession and community.
