Kristin Hook was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. She earned a B.A. and a B.S. in biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and a Ph.D. in animal behavior from Cornell University in 2016. After graduating, she joined Teach For America and taught middle school science in New York City for three years. Her career includes being a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Maryland, a policy fellow in Senator Elizabeth Warren's office, and a biologist for the U.S. Government Accountability Office. She has also worked as a science and technology expert at the National Institutes of Health. Hook was the Democratic nominee for the same congressional district in 2024.
