Nick LaLota is an American politician and Navy veteran serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 1st congressional district since 2023. Born in Bay Shore, New York, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the Navy for eight years as a Surface Warfare Officer. LaLota earned an MBA and J.D. from Hofstra University. Before his election to Congress, he served as an Amityville Village Trustee, an elections commissioner, and chief of staff to the Suffolk County Legislature.
