Dr. Bunyon has held leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the Maryland Optometric Association. He is actively involved in the community, serving as the President of the 100 Black Men of America (Prince George's County) and as a past-president of the Sigma Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
