Larry Strickland was born in Johnston County, North Carolina, and has been a resident of Pine Level for over 40 years. Before his election to the state legislature, he served on the Johnston County Board of Education for 18 years, with 8 of those years as Chairman. He also served as Chairman of the Johnston County School Parent Advisory Board. Strickland's professional background includes working for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for over 25 years, where he was an Assistant Manager of the Right of Way Unit. He is also a co-owner of Strickland Brothers Farm, LLC, and owns Strickland Appraisal Services, LLC. He was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2016.
