Lawrence Cohen Walker III was born on June 17, 1965, in Perry, Georgia. A Republican, he currently serves as a member of the Georgia State Senate for the 20th district, having first assumed office in December 2015. He was elected President pro tempore of the Georgia State Senate in January 2026. Walker earned a BBA from the University of Georgia. His father, Larry Walker, previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives. In January 2024, he introduced S.B. 390, a bill to withhold government funding from Georgia libraries affiliated with the American Library Association. He is running unopposed in the Republican primary for his State Senate seat in 2026. He is married to Adrienne Horne.
