Manny Cruz is a Salem native, father, public servant, entrepreneur, and nonprofit leader. Raised by a single mother after surviving domestic violence, he attended Salem Public Schools, studied political science at Salem State University, and graduated cum laude from Northeastern University. He worked as a legislative aide to State Representative Juana Matias and later as district director for State Representative Paul Tucker, and has served as advocacy director for Latinos for Education. Elected to the Salem School Committee in 2017 and later its vice chair, he now represents the 7th Essex District (Salem) in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
