Margaret Scarsdale has served as State Representative for the 1st Middlesex District since January 2023. Before joining the legislature she chaired the Pepperell Select Board (2019–2022). A high school dropout who later earned her GED and a bachelor's degree in American studies from UMass Lowell, she has worked as a middle-school English/language-arts teacher, a downtown-revitalization program manager in Ayer, and owner of a writing and editing consulting business. She lives in Pepperell, Massachusetts.
