Maria Louisa Cervania

Maria Cervania is an epidemiologist and biostatistician who has served as the State Representative for North Carolina's 41st House District since January 1, 2023. Before her time in the state legislature, she was a Wake County Commissioner, the first Asian American/Pacific Islander elected to the board. Her career in public health has included roles in Medicaid, protective services for adults and children, and crisis management during events like the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and the COVID-19 pandemic. She was born in Oakland, California, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
