Mario Barrera is an incumbent judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California, having assumed office in 2018. He was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown on October 11, 2018. Prior to his appointment, his career included serving in the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender's Office from 1992 to 2018, where he was a deputy alternate public defender and a deputy public defender. He earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a J.D. from Southwestern Law School. Barrera won re-election in 2020 after the election was canceled as he was the only candidate to file. His current term is set to end on January 4, 2027.
