Marisa Hernandez-Stern is a candidate for Judge of the Superior Court Office No. 148 in Los Angeles County, California — 2026 Primary Election. Running as Nonpartisan.
Marisa Hernandez-Stern was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Gavin Newsom in January 2024. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Supervising Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice in the Worker Rights and Fair Labor Section starting in 2020, and was a Deputy Attorney General there from 2017 to 2020. Her previous experience includes working as a Staff Attorney for Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (2016-2017), and as an associate at the law firms of Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai (2015-2016) and Traber & Voorhees (2012-2015). She also served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Harry Pregerson at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2011 to 2012. Hernandez-Stern earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, with a focus on Critical Race Studies and Public Interest Law and Policy. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University. She comes from a family of judges, with her father and brother also serving as judges on the Los Angeles Superior Court.
