Mark Gaines

Mark Gaines is a longtime resident of Central Kitsap and a civil engineer with bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Washington. He currently works as the State Design Engineer for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Gaines has a history of service with the school district, having previously served on the board from 2009 to 2015. He was appointed to the vacant Director District 2 position in May 2025 to serve until the November election. He and his wife, Kelly, have four children, three of whom are graduates of the district and one who is a current student. He has been an active volunteer in the district since 1993, including mentoring, coaching youth sports, and serving on the Olympic College Engineering Advisory Committee.
