Mary Barber was appointed as Mayor of Gig Harbor in November 2024, having previously served on the City Council since January 2022. She has a career spanning over 40 years in public relations and strategic communications, including running her own company. Barber has also served on the city's Parks Commission and the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. She is a graduate of Whitman College and moved to Gig Harbor in 2014 from Anchorage, Alaska.
