Matt Mahan is an American politician and tech entrepreneur serving as the 66th Mayor of San Jose, California, since 2023. He previously served as a member of the San Jose City Council from 2021 to 2023. Raised in Watsonville, Mahan graduated from Harvard University and worked as a teacher through Teach for America. Before entering politics, he was the co-founder and CEO of Brigade Media, a civic engagement tech company. He is a Democratic candidate in the 2026 California gubernatorial election.
