Matt Watkins is a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area who served for 16 years on the Pasco City Council, including 10 years as mayor. He stepped down as mayor in 2019 and also left a 30-year job at the Hanford site. In late 2022, he was hired to oversee the development of Pasco's voter-approved aquatic center. Watkins is running unopposed for the District 2 seat being vacated by the retiring Jean Ryckman.
