Melissa Perron is a Sault Tribe member, mother of five, and founder of Families for Safe Staffing, an advocacy group for Michigan's Corrections Officers. A lifelong resident of Northern Michigan and graduate of Rudyard High School, she earned an associate degree from Bay Mills Community College and a bachelor's degree from Southern New Hampshire University. Perron's career spans roles in education, tribal child and family services, and the service industry. She is a Democratic candidate for Michigan's 107th House District.
