Mia Bonta is the incumbent California State Assemblymember for District 18, first elected in a 2021 special election. Her district includes Oakland, Alameda, and Emeryville. Prior to her election to the Assembly, Bonta served as the CEO of Oakland Promise, a nonprofit education organization, and as the President of the Alameda Unified School District Board. She earned a bachelor's degree from Yale University, a master's degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
