Micaela Lara Cadena is an incumbent Democratic State Representative for New Mexico's 33rd district, representing a portion of Doña Ana County. She first assumed office in January 2019 and is seeking re-election in the 2026 Primary. Cadena brings a background as a Research Director, notably with Young Women United and Bold Futures, where she focused on policy change and advocacy for communities of color, especially around reproductive justice and criminal legal reform. She also previously worked as Bureau Chief of Recidivism Reduction for the New Mexico Corrections Department, advancing efforts to improve public safety.
