He holds a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Kentucky and a master's degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He has served on the City Council since 2010 and was previously on the city's Planning Commission. He earned an Advanced Municipal Leadership Certification from the Association of Washington Cities in 2016. He and his wife have five children.
