Michael John Barrett (born June 27, 1948) is an American politician and attorney who has served as the Massachusetts State Senator for the 3rd Middlesex District since 2013. He previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1979–1985) and State Senate (1987–1994), then worked in health care and information technology before returning to the Senate in 2012. He chairs the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy and has been the Senate's lead architect of Massachusetts climate legislation.
