Michael R. Amerian was appointed as a judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. Prior to his appointment, he served as a deputy city attorney in the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for 15 years, working in both the civil and criminal divisions. He also served as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Dickran M. Tevrizian, Jr., from 1999 to 2000. Amerian earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. His father, the late Justice Richard Amerian, also served on the Los Angeles Superior Court and the California Court of Appeal.
