Michael Waters

Mike Waters is the current District Attorney for the 11th Prosecutorial District and the Vice President of the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys. A native of Granville County, he graduated from J.F. Webb High School. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Teaching Fellows Scholarship and taught middle school science before attending law school. Waters earned his law degree from North Carolina Central Law School, where he was class president and recipient of the Floyd McKissick, Sr. leadership award. Prior to his role as DA, he was a founding partner of the law firm Perry & Waters, LLP, which focused on criminal and domestic law. He has also served as the President of both the Granville County and Vance County Bar Associations and provides pro bono legal services for the Guardian ad Litem program, which advocates for abused and neglected children.
