Michelle Paulene Abeyta

Michelle Paulene Abeyta is an incumbent State Representative for New Mexico House District 69, having assumed office on January 1, 2025. A lawyer by profession and a life-long Democrat, she is a member of the Navajo Nation, residing in To’hajiilee with her family. Abeyta earned degrees from Central New Mexico Community College and the University of New Mexico, where she double majored in Native American Studies and Communication. She is seeking re-election in the Democratic primary on June 2, 2026. Her legislative priorities include improving healthcare, advocating for education, and championing rural and tribal communities. She serves on key committees such as House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources and the Indian Affairs Committee.
