Michelle S. Short was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in 2018 by Governor Jerry Brown. Prior to her appointment, she served as a commissioner at the same court starting in 2015. Her legal career also includes time as a sole practitioner from 2005 to 2015, a staff attorney at the Los Angeles County Department of Child Support Services from 2001 to 2005, and an owner and partner at Rousier and Nagel from 1999 to 2001. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Northridge. She is also an adjunct professor of law at the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
