Michael W. Detmer, a Republican, has been a member of the Dorchester County Council, representing District 5, since December 6, 2022. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served from 2002 to 2006, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Liberty University. Prior to his election, Detmer worked as a journalist and reporter for the Dorchester Star. He has also been a member of the Dorchester County Board of Health since 2022 and previously served on the county's Board of Elections and Redistricting Committee. Detmer is also a Community Liaison for Rep. Andy Harris. His campaign focused on prioritizing public safety and restoring effective government.
