Raised on a family farm near Underwood, he grew up immersed in the state's agriculture and energy industries. A civil engineering graduate, Heger has spent nearly 30 years in the mining and energy sector, currently serving as President of BNI Energy and BNI Coal. He is committed to supporting North Dakota's agricultural products, strengthening rural schools, responsibly developing natural resources like coal, oil, and natural gas, addressing workforce shortages, and reducing property taxes to encourage families in rural North Dakota.
