Mike Kennealy is a Lexington, Massachusetts resident, business executive, and former state official who sought the 2026 Republican nomination for governor. Born in Medford and raised in Reading, he graduated from Dartmouth College in 1990 with a degree in government and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1997. He spent 15 years in private equity at Spectrum Equity, then served as a special advisor in the state-receivership turnaround of the Lawrence Public Schools. He joined Gov. Charlie Baker's administration in February 2015 as assistant secretary for business growth and was promoted to Secretary of Housing and Economic Development in December 2018, serving through the end of Baker's term; he later worked in leadership at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. He suspended his campaign after falling short of the delegate threshold at the April 2026 Massachusetts Republican Convention.
