Mike McGowan lived in Thurston County for 35 years and moved to the Tumwater School District eleven years ago. He has two granddaughters in the district. He worked for 27 years as a youth librarian at Yelm's Timberland Library branch. McGowan also served on the Yelm City Council for three terms (nine years), including on the Budget Committee.
