Mike Vinton, a Republican, currently represents Montana House District 40, having assumed office in January 2025. Born in Whitefish, Montana, he holds degrees in computer engineering and business administration. Vinton is a self-employed general contractor, owning Vinton Construction Inc., and has previously served as Board President for the Home Builders Association of Billings. He was first elected to the State House in 2024, securing 74% of the vote. Vinton serves on the Appropriations and Long-Range Planning committees and is seeking re-election for District 40 in the June 2026 Republican primary, representing the Billings area.
