Mikel L. Hicks, a lifelong Marylander and Glen Burnie resident, is a candidate for the Democratic Central Committee in Legislative District 32. With over 13 years in state government, she has a background in human resource management and civil rights investigation. Hicks made history as the first African American female Employee Relations Manager and Director of Fair Practices at the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs. She currently serves as an EEO Program Manager at the Maryland Department of Transportation. Her community involvement includes mentoring students and volunteering with youth sports. Hicks is a recipient of the 2024 Anne Arundel County Executive Office Michelle Obama Award for her advocacy in equity and inclusion.
