Born and raised in West Philadelphia, she earned a degree in political science from the University of Virginia. Before joining the state legislature, she worked as Deputy Chief of Staff to Philadelphia City Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. and was a director at the Philadelphia Youth Network. She is a candidate for the U.S. House to represent Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District.
