Her career in public service includes roles as a law clerk at the Industrial Commission, an Assistant Attorney General, and a Deputy Commissioner of the Industrial Commission, a position to which she was appointed in 2005. In 2018, Governor Roy Cooper appointed her to the Full Commission of the Industrial Commission, and he designated her as Vice-Chair in 2019. She is currently serving her second term.
