Myra Griffin was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and has lived in Durham for over 30 years. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Her career in public service includes roles as a law clerk at the Industrial Commission, an Assistant Attorney General, and a Deputy Commissioner of the Industrial Commission, a position to which she was appointed in 2005. In 2018, Governor Roy Cooper appointed her to the Full Commission of the Industrial Commission, and he designated her as Vice-Chair in 2019. She is currently serving her second term.
