Nancy Backus is the first female mayor of Auburn, serving since 2014. Prior to her mayoralty, she was an Auburn City Councilmember for a decade and worked for 25 years as a Financial Manager at Boeing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from City University and an Associate of Arts from Green River Community College. Born in Wichita, Kansas, she moved to Auburn at age six.
