Nancy Armstrong-Montes is a retired teacher who previously taught in Nespelem and Detroit. She moved to Washington in the early 1970s to volunteer at St. Mary's Mission near Omak before taking her teaching position in Nespelem. After retiring, she has continued to volunteer extensively in the Nespelem School District, including on the school board, in the kitchen, classroom, and administration office. In May 2017, she was honored with the 'Friends of Children' award by the North Central Washington Educational Service District for her selfless dedication to the students and community. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Nespelem School District Board of Directors.
