Natalie Murdock is an incumbent Democratic member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 20 since April 2020. Upon being sworn in, she became the first Black woman under 40 to serve in the North Carolina Senate. Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed graduate work at Western Carolina University. Her professional background includes serving as the Deputy Director of Communications for the North Carolina Department of Justice, working on Deborah Ross's U.S. Senate campaign, and founding a public relations and communications consulting firm, Murdock Anderson Consulting.
