A Republican, he previously served as the chairman of the New York State Republican Committee from 2019 to 2023 and chaired the Erie County Republican Committee. Born in Jamestown, New York, Langworthy earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Niagara University. Prior to being elected, he was a staffer for Congressman Thomas M. Reynolds.
