Nicholas James Melvoin is an American attorney, educator, and politician serving as a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education for District 4 since 2017. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University, a master's in urban education from Loyola Marymount University, and a Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law. Melvoin began his career teaching middle school English in Watts through Teach For America.
