Peter Herron is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who began his law enforcement career with the State of North Carolina in the juvenile justice system at Samarcand Manor, where he worked for ten years. He then served as a Wildlife Officer with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, eventually returning to Montgomery County in 2001. After retiring from the state in 2013 with 30 years of credit, he joined the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major. Herron has also been a long-time instructor for the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program at Montgomery Community College, where he currently serves as School Director. He is a member of the Lowe Warner American Legion Post 159 and the Troy Lions Club.
