Peter J. Durant is a lifelong resident of Spencer, Massachusetts. He began his public service in 1999 on the Spencer Finance Committee and was elected to the Spencer Board of Selectmen in 2006. In 2011 he was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives to represent the 6th Worcester District, where he served 12 years before being elected to the State Senate on November 7, 2023, to fill the vacated Worcester and Hampshire Senate District. He is a graduate of David Prouty High School and Northeastern University; he owned a small business and worked as a construction manager for over 20 years. He resides in Spencer with his wife, former State Representative Kate Campanale.
