Phil Skaggs is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 80 since 2023. He is a candidate for the Michigan State Senate to represent District 29. Previously, Skaggs worked as a history professor at Goucher College, Grand Valley State University, and Aquinas College. He also served on the Kent County Commission from 2017 to 2022 and the East Grand Rapids City Commission from 2012 to 2016. Skaggs earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Michigan.
