Phillip Cornett is a District Court Judge for Judicial District 20A (now designated as District 28), serving Stanly and Montgomery counties. He was appointed to the position by Governor Roy Cooper on November 13, 2020. Prior to his appointment, he served as an Assistant District Attorney. Cornett also has experience as a private practice lawyer and served as a Judicial Clerk on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He earned his Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts from Western Carolina University, and an Associate in Science from Stanly Community College. He is a native of Norwood, where he resides.
