Quentin T. Sumner served as a state District Court and Superior Court judge for 39 years, beginning in 1990 and retiring in 2022. He earned both his bachelor's degree and his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University. In February 2024, he was honored with the Chief Justice Commission on Professionalism Judicial District Professionalism Award. He has served as the Commission Chair for the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission.
