Raumesh Akbari is an incumbent Tennessee State Senator representing District 29, also serving as the State Senate Minority Leader. An attorney by profession, she earned her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and a J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law. She previously served in the State House before being elected to the Senate. Akbari sits on several key committees, including Education, Calendar, Commerce and Labor, Judiciary, and Senate Ethics, and chairs the Senate Democratic Caucus. She is actively involved in numerous community and national organizations, including the National Civil Rights Museum board and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and has received multiple awards for her leadership.
